Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Rob Mullins has been a driving force in contemporary jazz for more than three decades. With 43 albums to his name, including three Billboard Top Ten releases, Mullins has earned international acclaim for his artistry, versatility, and dynamic live performances. His breakthrough recording Soulscape first established him as a rising voice in jazz, and his most recent project, Best of the Trio (July 2024), celebrates the energy and chemistry of his current ensemble.
A performer since childhood, Mullins began his career as a drummer before switching to piano at age 14, developing a command of multiple instruments and a unique compositional voice. His training took him from the University of Northern Colorado to New York City, where he studied under the legendary George Russell on a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
On stage, Mullins has appeared with some of the most respected names in jazz, pop, and rock, including Hubert Laws, The Crusaders, Dianne Reeves, Edgar Winter, Billy Preston, Kirk Whalum, and Gerald Albright. He has performed at iconic venues and festivals worldwide, from the Blue Note clubs and Ronnie Scott’s to the Playboy Jazz Festival, Hanoi Opera House, and the Village Vanguard.
As a composer, Mullins has written more than 400 original works, including chart-topping hits for Eric Marienthal, Ronnie Laws, and Wilton Felder. His studio credits extend to television and film, with music featured on The Proud Family (Disney), Soulfood (Showtime), King of Queens (CBS), and The Emmys.
